GANDALF THE GREAT

Hi All,

Gandalf is doing ok now, He also had an accident on the road outside our house. We are all still very upset about Frodo and now poor Gandalf had what must have been an almost trip to Rainbow Bridge. The road is a quiet one but when cars use it they do sometimes come along it fast. The hardest thing now is what to do? He loves being outside but paranoid is not the word, when I let him out I follow him everywhere then scoop him if he goes anywhere near the gate, fence or end of the garden. The good thing is he does like to be with me so he tends to stay close but it's that what if that is hard to cope with, I couldn't face loosing Gandalf as well.

I will try and post more updates sorry this is another sad story but the good news is that he is still with us.

Bye for now
Chez :-} x

Oh my goodness! What a post! We're so relieved to hear he's ok now - I can't believe he had an accident too.

You know, if the road just isn't safe, then it isn't safe. Housecats aren't automatically unhappy - he'll get used to life indoors, and be perfectly happy.

You could get a harness for him, and take him out for walks and he can get his outdoorsyness as a treat in future?

It's a tough decision for you, you coul dtry following him around, but I just don't think you can stop a cat exploring can you?

love to Gandalf and family, from Freya and staff :-)

Im so glad he is going to be OK. Another option you may consider is building a small enclosure for him. You could put it next to the house with a cat door so he can come and go as he pleases but still be safe in the enclosure.

Oh no, that's awful. You must be at your wits end. I agree with Freya's staff regarding house cats being happy. Ours have access to the back garden which is not particularly huge and it's enclosed ... but two happier cats your couldn't find. It's such a shame that surrounded by so much beautiful space your cats aren't safe, but Rob's brother lives in the Rockies surrounded by mountains and forests ... and they can't let their dog out because of the bears, coyotes and cougars. Such a shame, but a fact of life. Those cars that whiz up and down your road are the bears and cougars and coyotes of Britain. I do hope Gandalf is okay, and not too bruised. And big hugs to you and your family x
